The Blue Dolphins Club Project
Choosing a dive site requires care and consideration. The dive marshal needs to know information such as the slack water time, the topography and how to find it. Often dive marshals go to sites they know, particularly if less experienced divers are present and the dive’s location is often dependant on who is marshalling that particular day. It is also difficult for members, that are starting, to be encouraged to plan and marshal dives at a variety of sites.
Some dive site information can be derived from tidal atlases and charts but the best information is from divers who have dived them – hence ‘The Divers Guide to Guernsey’. We are asking experienced club members to contribute by describing some of the dive sites that they know of, this will identify known sites that members can explore. The final guide would be made accessible to all members.
To get involved e-mail Howard, (hbarnes@ladiescollege.sch.gg), for a blank proforma stating the site you would like to do and which type of word processor you use. If someone else is already doing your site Howard will get back to you with an alternative site or you can suggest another. The blank proforma will contain chart details for your selected site – see example opposite.
